Runway Privacy Policy
Last updated
Effective Date
This Privacy Policy is effective from 3 August 2026.
Scope
This policy explains how Sole Coding, operated by Kay Weng Foong ("Sole Coding", "we", "us", or "our") handles personal data in the Runway macOS app and on Runway's product pages. Contact us at kaylek207@gmail.com with privacy questions or requests.
Third-party services connected to Runway handle data under their own terms and privacy policies.
Our Local-First Approach
Runway is designed as a local-first app. Most usage calculations, project attribution, planning, workflows, settings, and cached provider information are processed and stored on your Mac.
The current version does not require a Sole Coding cloud account and does not upload your local usage history to a Sole Coding usage database. Network requests occur when you connect to a provider, validate a Runway Pro licence, load public ranking data, open a website, or use another feature that clearly requires an online service.
Data Runway Processes on Your Mac
Depending on the features you use, Runway may process:
- local Claude and Codex session or transcript files;
- usage percentages, reset times, message and token counts, and activity dates;
- project names and paths inferred from local activity or selected by you;
- provider connection state and cached provider responses;
- planner, schedule, workflow, notification, and display preferences; and
- Runway Pro activation status and local instance information.
This data may be stored in Runway's app container, Application Support, App Group storage, user defaults, local cache files, or macOS Keychain.
Data Sole Coding Does Not Centrally Collect
In the current release, Sole Coding does not centrally collect:
- your AI prompts or local transcript contents;
- your local project paths or project-level usage history;
- your provider usage history or planner and workflow history;
- your passwords, provider API keys, or provider access tokens; or
- advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data.
The current app contains no Sole Coding advertising analytics, cross-app tracking, or general-purpose analytics SDK. We will update this policy before introducing cloud sync, user accounts, hosted usage storage, or analytics that materially change these practices.
Credentials and Keychain
Provider credentials and the Runway Pro licence key are stored in macOS Keychain. Runway reads them on your Mac when necessary to perform the connection or licence action you request.
You can remove a provider credential by disconnecting that provider where the app offers that control. Deactivating Runway Pro removes the activation from the relevant Mac but may not erase purchase records held by Lemon Squeezy.
Uninstalling Runway does not necessarily remove all Application Support, App Group, user-default, cache, or Keychain data. You may need to remove remaining local files or Keychain entries manually.
Direct Provider Connections
When you connect or refresh a provider, Runway sends the credential and request information needed for that operation directly from your Mac to that provider. Examples of supported services may include Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, DeepSeek, Moonshot, xAI, Z.AI, and GitHub Copilot. The available integrations can change over time.
Depending on the provider and credential type, Runway may request account, model, balance, organisation, team, cost, quota, or usage information. Standard API-key validation uses a provider endpoint and does not send an AI prompt. A valid standard API key may confirm API access without exposing personal usage totals; some totals require a separate administrative or reporting credential.
Provider requests are governed by the provider's terms and privacy policy. Sole Coding does not control the provider's retention, security, or international processing.
Runway Pro Checkout and Licensing
Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record for Runway Pro. It processes checkout, payment, tax, order, licence, and purchaser information under its own terms and privacy practices. Sole Coding may receive order and licence information needed to deliver Runway Pro, provide support, prevent abuse, and maintain business and legal records.
When you activate, validate, or deactivate Runway Pro, the app sends the licence key and an activation instance name or identifier to Lemon Squeezy's licensing service. Lemon Squeezy may also receive ordinary network information such as an IP address and request metadata.
Model Ranking Data
Runway's Ranking feature may retrieve a public model-ranking dataset from Hugging Face. That request does not include your local prompts or project data, but Hugging Face may receive normal network information such as your IP address, device or request metadata, and request time.
Website and Server Logs
When you visit Runway's website, hosting, delivery, and security providers may process ordinary server logs, including IP address, browser or device details, requested page, referring page, and timestamp. These records may be used to deliver and secure the website, diagnose faults, and prevent abuse.
Runway's current product policy does not state that advertising cookies or website analytics are used. If the website later enables analytics, marketing cookies, mailing lists, or contact forms that materially change data handling, this policy and any required consent controls must be updated.
Notifications
Runway notifications are scheduled and displayed through macOS. Notification preferences and workflow state are kept locally by the app and operating system. Apple may process notification-related system data under its own policies.
Data Retention and Deletion
Local Runway data remains on your Mac until you clear it, disconnect the related provider, or remove the relevant app storage or Keychain entry. Cached data may be replaced during refreshes. Sole Coding cannot remotely delete data stored only on your Mac.
Sole Coding retains personal data it controls only for as long as reasonably needed for support, licensing, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or business records. Lemon Squeezy, providers, website hosts, and other third parties retain data according to their own policies and legal duties.
To request access, correction, or deletion of data controlled by Sole Coding, email kaylek207@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity. Payment or purchaser-data requests may need to be handled by Lemon Squeezy.
Security
Runway uses macOS Keychain for credentials and is designed to limit central data collection. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards for data under our control. No device, storage method, transmission, or third-party service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Protect your Mac account and never send us passwords, API keys, access tokens, or a full licence key by email.
Third-Party Services and International Transfers
Providers, Lemon Squeezy, Hugging Face, Apple, and website infrastructure may process data in countries other than yours. Their privacy policies describe their roles, locations, retention, and transfer safeguards. Where Sole Coding transfers personal data under its control internationally, we will take steps required by applicable data-protection law.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask for access to, correction of, deletion of, or information about personal data controlled by Sole Coding, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. These rights can be subject to legal exceptions and record-keeping duties.
Send requests or complaints to kaylek207@gmail.com. We will respond as required by applicable law. You may also contact the relevant data-protection authority.
Children's Privacy
Runway is not directed to children. A person using Runway must be at least 18 years old, or otherwise have the legal capacity and any required permission to accept the Terms of Use. If you believe a child has provided personal data to Sole Coding, contact us so we can review the matter.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when Runway's features, data flows, providers, or legal obligations change. We will publish the revised policy here and update the effective date. We will provide additional notice where required by law.
